Glyka Nera Beach sits between Chora Sfakion and Loutro on the southern shoreline of Crete’s Chania region. Its pebbled coast is framed by steep cliffs, with clear blue-green water extending towards the horizon. The striking scenery gives this small stretch of shore a character of its own.

Known as “Sweet Water,” the beach takes its name from freshwater springs that rise beneath the pebbles. Their cool water makes swimming particularly refreshing, while the sea’s clarity offers an inviting opportunity to explore with a snorkelling mask.

Visitors can reach Glyka Nera by boat from Sfakia or Loutro, or follow the coastal walking trail. Arriving reveals a beautiful setting for a leisurely swim and time spent resting beside the sea, with the towering cliffs providing an impressive backdrop.
