Paleochora sits on Crete’s southwestern coast in the Chania region, with inviting beaches on both sides of town. To the west, Pachia Ammos offers a long sandy shoreline only a few minutes from the centre, making it convenient to move between the beach and the town’s streets.

The eastern beach, Chalikia, has a pebbled shore and deeper water, providing a different setting for swimming. Together, the two beaches offer a choice of coastal experiences, from relaxing on broad stretches of sand to enjoying the refreshing sea beside smooth pebbles.

A day in Paleochora can begin with a swim, continue with a waterfront walk and end with a leisurely meal in town. With both beaches close at hand, there is plenty of time to enjoy the sea without rushing. The combination of town life and varied shores gives Paleochora its easygoing appeal.
