Tripiti Beach sits near Lentas in the southern Heraklion region, where a gorge through the Asterousia Mountains reaches the sea. Sand and fine pebbles cover its spacious shoreline, framed by steep rock faces that give the beach a rugged beauty.
The transparent water shifts between green and blue, inviting a refreshing swim, although it becomes deep quite close to shore. Scattered tamarisk trees offer welcome pockets of shade for a break beside the water.
Close to the beach, the little church of Panagia Tripiti occupies a cave in the gorge’s rocky wall. This unusual landmark adds another point of interest to a visit, before an afternoon spent enjoying the sea and the surrounding scenery.
