Kalypso Beach is a narrow rocky cove near Plakias, on the southern shoreline of Crete’s Rethymno region. Known locally as Karavos and often called the “Pirates’ Fjord,” it sits between steep cliffs that create an impressive backdrop to the sea.
The inlet’s clear water reveals the rocky seabed, with deeper water starting close to the shore. Its underwater landscape attracts visitors interested in snorkelling and diving, while the nearby diving centre provides opportunities to explore below the surface.
Spend a little time taking in the cliffs and the shifting shades of blue within the cove. Kalypso makes a memorable stop while exploring the coast around Plakias, offering striking views where the narrow inlet opens towards the sea.
